It looks like the land of Hyboria is about to get a little bit smaller. In a post on Funcom’s forums, the new Age of Conan Game Director, Craig Morrison, outlined a lot of changes coming to the MMO. One of the biggest changes, though, was a confirmation that the company is planning to reduce the number of active servers:

“I can today confirm that we are actively working on an approach to merge servers, both in Europe and North America. It’s important for us to ensure the best gameplay experience for you all, and more healthy populations on each and every server will make sure we maintain healthy communities for the game in the future. Still, there are many complexities involved in this, and we want to ensure that everything happens as fair and streamlined as possible.”

It’s hard for any Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game to do well without that whole aoc gold“Massively Multiplayer” part of the equation. So, when a company decides to merge servers, it’s usually a sign of low populations. What does this move mean for fans of Age of Conan? Right now, it looks like there are fewer of you than there were at launch. Hopefully things will change when Funcom releases that promised Xbox 360 version of the game next year.
